Another record for Plasieland

On 18 May an astonishing number of Merensky High School learners participated in the annual Talent Search Olympiad. This competition is hosted by the IT Professionals South Africa and sponsored by Standard Bank.

476 Plasies proved their skill and reaped 23 gold, 50 silver and 110 bronze certificates.

A gold certificate indicates that the participant scored in the top 6% in the country. A silver certificate puts you in the top 20%, while a bronze certificate ranks amongst the top 50% in the country.

Top honours in grade 8 were awarded to Lizané van Schalkwyk, Janké Basson, Janderik Eloff and Jayden Smit. In grade 9 Michaela Stanley, Suandrie Corbett and Bianca Prinsloo proved the most competent. Stefan Patel and Gideon Hartzenberg made their mark in grade 10, while Jason Mellett, Marc Wigginton and Thato Shokane in grade 11 scored distinctions. Grade 12 top scorers were Britney Chu, Casper Jordaan and Belinda Nzadi.
