Close call at Limpopo finals

Merensky High School’s 1st and u.14 rugby teams competed in the Limpopo league finals on Saturday, 23 July at HTS Tom Naudé in Polokwane.

The 1st team played against Hoërskool Ben Viljoen from Groblersdal and bowed the knee with a final score of 42-24. Tries were scored by JD le Grange (2) and Ettienn Slabbert (1). Masedi Manamela converted all the tries plus a goal kick successfully.

The Plasie u.14 boys met their match against the team from Hoërskool Ellisras with a final score of 5-16.

Both teams will show their mettle in the popular Beeld Competition, starting with a home game on Saturday, 30 July against Hoërskool Erasmus from Bronkhorstspruit and Hoërskool Die Wilgers from Pretoria.

On the hockey field at Pietersburg Hoërskool in Polokwane, Merensky High School’s u.15 girls team won 2-1 against Stanford Lake College, thus claiming the third place in Limpopo.

The u.14 girls played against Ben Vorster High School and ended this exciting match 0-1. Player of the match was awarded to Jessica Botha. They are placed second in Limpopo.

Both Plasie teams will compete in the Noordvaal Championships from 28 – 30 July in Krugersdorp.
