Adrenaline pumping on Plasiepark

MHS Invitational Meeting

A very successful athletics invitational meeting was held on Saturday, 2 February, at Plasiepark hosted by Merensky High School.

Athletes from high schools Pietersburg, Tom Naudé, Frans du Toit, Louis Trichardt and Merensky competed against each other on field and track.

Star athlete, Elandri Janse van Rensburg (u.14), once again made the javelin sing with a new record. This record was set in 1996 and was improved from 30.88m to 34.87m. For the second weekend in a row, Elandri was named Junior Victrix Ludorum for the 2390 points she collected throughout the day with javelin throw, discus throw, shot put and the 200m.

The Merensky team gathered 26 gold, 46 silver and 51 bronze medals for the day.

This was a good test run for the Soutpansberg Inter-High which will be presented on 22 February at Plasiepark with high schools Eric Louw, Frans du Toit, Merensky, Northern Academy, Louis Trichardt, PHS and Tom Naudé.
