Plasies take Fransies by storm

On Saturday, 6 April, the rugby and hockey teams of Merensky High School competed in friendly matches against the teams of Frans du Toit High School in Phalaborwa.

On a wet rugby field, affairs for the Plasies seemed bright from the outset when the u.14A boys beat the Fransies 24-0. The u.15As followed their lead and beat the Fransies again, 34-0. Merensky’s 2nd team worked hard to hold a 21-17 victory. The u.16A team scored a massive 38-7. Plasieland’s 1st XV had to be satisfied with a 17-17 draw.

Merensky’s junior and senior boys hockey teams also reigned supreme. The u.14 boys won Frans du Toit 5-1, while the 1st team ran riot with a 9-0 win.

The enthusiastic hockey girls impressed spectators with their skills. The u.14s won with an incredible 10-0 on the scoreboard, with the 1st team delivered a great game, resulting in a 8-0 victory.

However, things didn’t go so well on the soccer field and the Plasies had to bow out with a 0-2 and 2-4 scores for the juniors and seniors respectively.
