INTERHOUSE – 22 January 2024

On 22 January, athletes and supporters gathered in large numbers at Plasiepark to finalise the 2024 inter house, after welcome rain disrupted the original date.

The skivvies in their multi-coloured house shirts participated in large numbers. No less than 29 existing records were broken during this event. Interestingly in 3 events the record was broken by the 1st as well as the 2nd places.

House Aqua emerged victorious with 879.5 points, followed by House Ventus with 825 points. House Ignus was third with 811 points and House Terra in last place with 754 points.

The four top athletes of the day were Zané Vosloo - Junior Victrix Ludorum and Klara Pretorius Senior Victrix Ludorum. Sven Hedin holds the title of Junior Victor Ludorum and Arno Haasbroek that of Senior Victor Ludorum.

INTERHOUSE – 22 January 2024

On Friday 9 February lovers of athletics gathered at Plasieland to celebrate the friendly Frikkie Deysel Athletics Meeting. Last year this event had to succumb to the rainy weather, but this year the clouds held back in favour of magnificent athletics.

The six participating schools, Merensky Agricultural Academy, Hoërskool Pietersburg, Tom Naudé THS, Frans du Toit High School, Louis Trichardt High School and Stanford Lake College competed in good spirit at Plasiepark. The enthusiastic encouragement from the pavilion certainly contributed to top performances.

The Plasie athletes did their job exceptionally well and reaped 38 gold, 37 silver and 30 bronze medals. Congratulations to Sven Hedin in grade 9 who holds the title of Junior Victor Ludorum. Klara Pretorius in grade 12 once again boasts the title of Senior Victrix Ludorum.

Marelie van der Merwe from PHS was the Junior Victrix Ludorum and Mokgale Mamabolo from Stanford Lake College was the Senior Victor Ludorum.

Well done to the Pieties who won the event, with the Plasies in a close 2nd place and Hoërskool Louis Trichardt in 3rd place.

JANUS ROBBERTS MEET – 26 January 2024

During the Janus Robberts Athletics meeting on 26 January at Hoërskool Pietersburg, Plasieland's athletes proved their worth.

Though early in the season, the Plasies boasted a 2nd place, a few points behind the Pieties. A total of 23 gold, 36 silver and 24 bronze medals were also reaped. In addition, the athletes in blue also broke three records. Congratulations to Klara Pretorius, JP Botha and Dawid van den Bergh whose names now grace this event's record sheets.

Sven Hedin in grade 9 was named the best junior boys track athlete, and also deservedly holds the title of Junior Victor Ludorum. Plasieland's top athlete, Klara Pretorius also boasted the award for best senior girls track athlete, the best single performance by a girl and was hailed as the Senior Victrix Ludorum.

LOUIS TRICHARDT MEET – 16 February 2024

INTER-HIGH @ FRANS DU TOIT – 23 February 2024

On 23 February, the Plasie athletes took part in the Far North Inter-High at Frans du Toit High School in Phalaborwa, with brand new athletic uniforms. The Plasies ended as runners-up with 1044 points compared to the 1129 of Hoërskool Pietersburg. Louis Trichardt High School was 3rd with 804, Tom Naudé THS was 4th with 689.5, Frans du Toit High School 5th with 509.5, Northern Academy 6th with 386 and Eric Louw High School closed the back door with 140 points.

During this extremely hot day, the Plasies reaped several awards. Klara Pretorius was named the best senior girls track athlete and holds the title of Senior Victrix Ludorum. Sven Hedin was named the best junior boys track athlete and boasts the Junior Victor Ludorum title. Plasieland’s Viking singing team finished in 3rd place.

NWU SUPER 16 INTER-HIGH – 26 February 2024

On 26 February, all the athletes travelled to Sasolburg to take part in the NWU Super 16 InterHigh at the DP de Villiers Stadium. The NWU InterHigh consists of 64 schools that participate in eight groups. MLA finished 1st in group 5 last year which means that Plasieland competed in group 4 this year. Group 3 and group 4 participated together during the event, with Hoërskool Driehoek acting as the host school. Participating schools in group 4 were Hoër Volkskool Potchefstroom, Hoërskool Linden, Bergsig Academy, Rob Ferreira High School, Hoërskool Driehoek, Hoërskool Eldoraigne, Hoërskool Hugenote and Merensky Agricultural Academy.

Here too, the Plasie athletes made headlines as runners up to Hoërskool Eldoraigne with a mere difference of 18 points. The girls team ended in 2nd place and the boys team in 3rd place. Superstar Sven Hedin once again received the Junior Victor Ludorum award. The Plasies also won trophies for the best girls hurdle team, the best girls sprint team, the best boys jump team and the best girls jump team.
