Plasie cricket is off to an excellent start in 2019

Over the past two weeks the u15 team of Merensky High School played 2 super league games and remain undefeated. The match against Midstream on 19 January, took place on home ground. Ockert Schoeman’s 30 runs contributed to an 11 run victory. On 26 January, the youngsters took on Hans Moore from Benoni. They set a target of 200 runs after 49.3 overs. In the third and final girls cricket league match against Southern Cross on Saturday, 15 September, the first girls cricket team of Merensky High School took a stand. They defeated their opponents, on their home ground, with a staggering 202 runs. Merensky set a goal of 285 runs, with Southern Cross achieving only 83. The star of the show was Merensky’s Khushi Mistry in grade 10. Apart from earning 5 wickets, she also made 177 runs from only 113 balls (which is the highest batting total in Merensky’s cricket history). Plasies are cricket proud

Merensky High School’s 1st cricket team knew, that Ben Vorster High School knew, that the Plasies could beat them. This was proven to be true on Saturday, 1 September on Merensky’s cricket oval. After winning the toss in this league match, Ben Vorster decided to bat first and were all out for 63 runs in the 19th over. Kieran Albertus, best bowler, took 4 wickets in 6 overs, conceding only 25 runs. Louis Botha also did excellent work and took 3 wickets in 6 overs, conceding 22 runs. When the Plasies…
