Hockey for the history books

After a long, intense season, during which Merensky High School’s hockey girls celebrated numerous victories on and off the field, it was time for the final reckoning. The weekend of 1-4 August was one for the history books, as no less than four teams qualified for the Noordvaal tournament for medium schools, hosted by schools all over the old Transvaal. This proves that Plasie hockey is on a roll, as only the u.14 team qualified for this prestigious tournament in 2017. The Plasie 1st team played their matches at Hoërskool Noordheuwel in Krugersdorp. Plasie hockey takes a stand

In a fitting tribute on Youth Day, 16 June, four girls hockey teams from Merensky High School competed in the Limpopo finals for medium schools at Stanford Lake College. The u.14 girls were the stars of the day, defeating the team of Ben Vorster, 4-0. Scorers were: Amerie Kotze (2), Claudelle Cawood (1) and Chantelle Meyer (1). This promising team is now Limpopo champions and will be in action at Cornwall Hill College in the Noordvaal tournament on 2 to 4 August. The u.15 team won Ben Vorster 3-2. Na verskeie uitdaagwedstryde gedurende die week, het Plasieland se hokkiebokkies op Saterdag, 9 Junie, aan die Limpopo semi-finaal by Pietersburg Hoërskool deelgeneem. Met ‘n skittervertoning het die o.14’s die provinsie laat kennis neem toe hul Hoërskool Ellisras 6-1 geklop het.
