Final bell for Plasie grade 12’s

At Merensky High School the final grade 12 prize giving ceremony is an occasion not to be missed. A special church service set the tone, whereafter several interested parties had the opportunity to wish the class of 2017 all the best for the final exam and their future.

This year the matrics were delighted with visits from SAVF Kleuterskool and Dr. Annecke, Tzaneen and Duiwelskloof Primary Schools.

73 Blue Certificates, 93 Silver Certificates, 74 Colours and 36 Trophies were awarded for excellence in Academics, Sports and Culture.

Special awards went to Chris Bill – “Boere-ordentlikheid”, Dené Wolmarans – Service and Commitment, Noko Malatji – Sportsman of the Year and Riëtte Warmenhoven and Marlu McLean – Exceptional Research. Marlu McLean also received the EC Loyalty Award as well as the Plasie of the Year trophy.

Academic Honorary Medals were awarded to Marlu McLean (bronze), Belinda Nzadi (silver) and Valeriia Avdysh (gold).

Valeriia Avdysh, carrier of the title 2017 Dux Learner, received trophies for best achievement in English Home Language, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Mathematics. She also received Academic Colours for all 8 her subjects being above 80%, boasting with an aggregate of 92,6%. Valeriia was awarded Colours for tennis as well as Double Colours for her gold President’s Award.

To conclude the ceremony, every grade 12 had the privilege of ringing the cow bell – which they rang in grade 8 for the first time – now as a final goodbye to Plasieland.
