Merensky High School started their official winter sports season on home ground on Saturday, 5 March against Piet Potgieter High School from Mokopane. A huge crowd supported the Plasie rugby, netball and girls hockey teams.

The girls hockey teams also started their season on a high note. The u.14A team lost their game, 2-1, with Leoné Slabbert appointed as player of the match. The u.15A team gave the audience a glimpse of what they can expect from Plasie hockey this season, by winning their game 2-0, with Jenelle de Jonge and Lourencia van Dyk scoring the goals. Lianca Pieterse was appointed player of the match. The u.16A team lost 1-0 (player of the match: Johanne Mouton) and the 2nd team’s game ended in a tie, 1-1 (player of the match: Hayley Stephenson).

Merensky’s flag ship 1st team was a source of great joy when they ended triumphantly with a score of 3-1. Xané du Toit and Lilly Pohl (player of the match) scored 1 and 2 goals each.
