In the third and final girls cricket league match against Southern Cross on Saturday, 15 September, the first girls cricket team of Merensky High School took a stand.
They defeated their opponents, on their home ground, with a staggering 202 runs. Merensky set a goal of 285 runs, with Southern Cross achieving only 83.
The star of the show was Merensky’s Khushi Mistry in grade 10. Apart from earning 5 wickets, she also made 177 runs from only 113 balls (which is the highest batting total in Merensky’s cricket history).
This was an exemplary performance by Mistry who also plays for the senior Limpopo womans’ team. She was recently included in Cricket South Africa’s High Performance Group.
