On Saturday, 19 May the last general winter sports day was hosted at Plasiepark, Merensky High School.

The visitors from Piet Potgieter High School in Mokopane were surprised by the cold, rainy conditions resulting in all netball games being cancelled.

On the hockey field, the girls triumphed. The u.14 team won with an astonishing 7-0. The u.15’s and u.16’s drew their matches, 1-1 and 0-0 respectively. 25 Minutes into the game, with the score board reflecting 2-0 for Merensky, the game was stopped due to heavy rain. The “Allesbeste” first team gave their best, boasting a 1-0 victory.

On the rugby field everybody sat up and took notice of the Plasie junior teams. The u.14A’s and u.14B’s won 26-24 and 38-5 respectively. The u.15A team drew 12-12, while the u.16A’s gathered 41 points against only 5 for the Potties.

After the 3rd team scored 27-0, hopes were high for the senior boys. Unfortunately both teams got stuck, resulting in a 12-20 and 17-44 on the score board.
