Merensky High School’s archery club are boasting about their triumphant achievements as 7 of the competing archers, led by Dawie Theron and Riana Jackson, excelled at the South African National Indoor Archery Championships held on 20 to 22 April at the Kempton Park Action Archery Range.

This event consisted of 2 IFAA indoor rounds, in a diversity of shooting styles and seemingly endless variations of equipment. A standard round consisted of 12 ends and 5 arrows, shot over a distance of 20 yards. The maximum score an archer could reach was 600. Due to the overwhelming talent and entries in this tournament, the competition was extremely tight.

Congratulations to Lin-Mari Theron (YAFBU), the star of the show, who not only received a gold medal but also her provincial colours and sought after national colours in indoor archery.

Rohan Wewege and Lin-Mari Theron both shot their own personal best scores and Canell Jackson managed to attain her provincial qualifier.

At the medal ceremony the Plasies reaped gold and silver. Congratulations to Canell Jackson (JFBU), Lin-Mari Theron (YAFBU), Sean Hunt (YAMFU) and Rohan Wewege (YAMBU) who received gold medals. Ryan Jackson (YAMFU) & Dewald Hagenaar boast with silver, while Ashley Hunt progressed to claim a 4th place.

Ryan Jackson and Canell Jackson also received the seasons awarded Provincial colours.
