Merensky rugby off to a great season

The rugby teams of Merensky High School played their first matches of the season on Saturday, March 10, with friendlies against Rob Ferreira High School in White River.

Six of Merensky’s eight teams have triumphed. The u.14Bs started the day with a 41-10 win, while the u.14A team walked off the field with a staggering 74-0 win. The u.15A and B teams had to bend the knee with final scores of 14-15 and 10-24. The u.16B team impressed with a 41-10 win and the A team won 24-14.

The seniors also made sure they started the year well with the 2nd team who beat the Robbies 33-5. In the first team Delux Jooste scored 2 tries. Calvin Schambriel and Pieter Gouws also planted the ball behind the goal line. Jooste converted the four tries and the Plasie-team reigned victorious, 28-17.

The rugby, hockey and netball teams of Merensky High School will measure forces with the teams at Southdowns College in Centurion, Pretoria on Saturday, March 17.
