Merensky soccer team remains unbeaten

The much anticipated local soccer derby between Merensky and Ben Vorster High Schools took place on 28 May at Merensky.

The junior team (u.16) had a slow start and was 0-1 behind at half time. With sufficient fitness and an impressive display by Tumi Ngwako and captain Thapelo Mokgola, Merensky took control and won the game 3-1. Goals were scored by Gabriel Rabothato, Jack Morula and Makungu Nkolele.

The first team of Merensky quickly got into their stride and went ahead early in the game with a goal scored by Phillemon Madidilala. Ben Vorster equalised on the stroke at half-time. Merensky’s fitness, organisation and determination eventually paid dividends when Nyiko Shikwambana scored the winning goal and Merensky held on to win 2-1.
