On Saturday, 4 August, the Miami Magoebaskloof MTB race, hosted by Tzaneen Cycling Club started and finished on the Merensky High School grounds. Nine Plasie cyclists entered this exciting race.
Over a distance of 15km, the sub-junior boys were led by Merensky’s Hennie de Wet (1st) and Matthew van der Merwe (2nd).
The more challenging 35km track was attacked by the Sub Junior, Youth and Junior Boys, as well as the Sub Junior and Youth Girls.
Armand Cronjé had an excellent race. Not only was he crowned the “King of the Mountain”, but he was the 1st Junior boy and overall winner from 140 cyclists. Sheldon Muller was the 5th Junior boy to finish.
The 1st Sub Junior girl to cross the finish line was Janke Joubert, while Jodi Spaumer took 3rd place in the Youth Girls category.
Youth boys, Gunter Katzke (3rd) and John-Robert Honiball (5th), also held the cycling club’s name high. Jurgens Spaumer (Sub Junior Boys) took a 7th place.
