Plasies are cricket proud

1st Team bowler Kieran Albertus and u.15 batsman Ockert Schoeman.

Say it out loud, Plasies are cricket proud. Merensky High School’s 1st cricket team knew, that Ben Vorster High School knew, that the Plasies could beat them. This was proven to be true on Saturday, 1 September on Merensky’s cricket oval.

After winning the toss in this league match, Ben Vorster decided to bat first and were all out for 63 runs in the 19th over. Kieran Albertus, best bowler, took 4 wickets in 6 overs, conceding only 25 runs. Louis Botha also did excellent work and took 3 wickets in 6 overs, conceding 22 runs.

When the Plasies went out to bat, Ben Vorster seemed confident in the 31st over when Merensky had only 1 wicket standing, alas, Ruan van der Schyff hit a boundary, resulting in a phenominal win for the Plasies.

The tables were turned during the u.15 match at Ben Vorster, who won convincingly.

On the Merensky side, Christian Barnard took 2 wickets in 7 overs, conceding 29 runs. Batting buddies, Phillip Ludick and Ockert Schoeman, contributed 19 and 16 runs respectively.
