Eight Plasie chess masters made their moves at an exciting, new chess initiative hosted by Tzaneen Primary School on Saturday, 9 September.

In order to improve players’ Limpopo ranking, five individual games were played. Themba Nkuna and Lunghuile Zandile competed in the 14-15 year olds category, earning 4 points each. In the 16+ category Kevin van Onselen and Louis Haynes also earned 4 points each, while Anya Glazer and Fumo Chabalala managed 3 points each. Danielle Theron earned 2 points.

Merensky Chess Club’s newly appointed organiser, Ms Liesl van Kasterop, invites all Plasie players to join them at playing this game which is known to exercise both sides of the brain, increases creativity and problem-solving skills and improves your memory.
