Plasie 7’s at Champion of Champions

Merensky High School’s u.18 7’s team was invited to compete in the final of the new Champion of Champions 7’s Tournament hosted by Camp Discovery, near Pretoria on 21 October 2017. The Champion of Champions series consisted of 11 tournaments in different provinces. The 22 top teams of the season were invited to Camp Discovery for the finals. After playing three games the Plasie team qualified for the final Shield match, but bowed the knee to Hoërskool Diamantveld…

7’s Bowl goes to Plasie juniors

In the final 7’s game to establish the Bowl winner on Saturday, 9 September, the Plasie u.15 team won Louis Trichardt 27-7 on the fields of HTS Tom Naudé in Polokwane. Earlier matches included Frans du Toit (27-10), Hans Strijdom (20-12), HTS Tom Naudé (35-7), Ben Vorster (7-46) and Ben Viljoen (14-25). The u.17 team played against Louis Trichardt (7-28), Piet Potgieter (0-35), PHS (0-45) and Curro Heuwelkruin (0-35).

On the weekend of 26 August the Merensky senior 7’s team participated in their first tournament of the season at Sutherland High School in Pretoria. True to form the boys won all three their pool games: 21-19 against Pretoria Boys High, 31-15 against Sutherland and 31-7 against Nylstroom. The Plasies competed in the semi-final of the esteemed cup against Hoërskool Eldoraigne. Unfortunately the boys’ dream of winning this first tournament was…
