Sean Hunt (YAMFU), Ashley Hunt (JFFU) en Canéll Jackson (JFBU) van die Merensky Boogskietklub het, saam met 100 ander skuts, aan die Gautengse Nasionale Veldkampioenskap buite Alberton deelgeneem. Op 16 en 17 September moes dié boogskiettrio alles uithaal en het hulle hul onderskeie afdelings gewen. Elkeen het 112 pyle laat sing oor afstande van sover as 80 jaart (ongeveer 73 meter). Winderige toestande en ‘n moordende son het Canéll nie gekeer om 2 nasionale kwalifiseerders te behaal nie. Geluk aan Ashley wat op dag 2 ‘n persoonlike beste skiet.

The Merensky Archery Club was was named the top archery school in the ABO School’s league. This follows their participation in the two day prestigious African Bowhunting Organization’s (ABO) Triple Crown Leg 3 Di competition at Wildcrete in Pretoria over this past week-end. Ten of the finest Merensky archers travelled to Pretoria to take part in what has been described as one of the toughest competitions in the sport. Six of Merensky High School’s well-known Archery Club members braced the cold in Potchefstroom on 19-20 August. They competed in the North West Provincial Field Archery Championships in preparation for the World Field Championships to be held in South Africa in 2018. In spite of windy conditions, the Plasie archers spent seven hours per day in the veld, aiming four arrows at 28 targets each over an average distance of 80 yards.
