It was a great day for Plasie sports on Saturday, 11 March.

On the netball courts the Merensky girls reigned supreme with a total of 226 goals against 44 scored by their opponents. The Plasie first team made a hard game look easy with a final score of 37-12.

The winning streak continued on the rugby fields with superb scores. Merensky’s first team proved their mettle with a 53-15 win. Tries were scored by Ryno van Burick (2), Noko Malatji (2), Masedi Manamela, Dylan Herrendoerfer, Martin Theunisen, Wynand Scholtz and Delux Jooste. Successful goal kicks were delivered by Wynand Scholtz (3) and Masedi Manamela.

Smart moves were also strategically made by the two schools’ chess players. The Plasie brainiacs – Colin van Niekerk, Wiehan Cloete, Louis Heyns and Kevin van Onselen – won their games in round 1. Round 2 resulted in a win for Van Niekerk and an equilizer for Cloete.

Archers from both schools enjoyed nature and the fresh farm air. Beginners Armand Wiers, Ashley Hunt and Emile O’Reilly gained valuable experience and are on their way to become valuable Plasie archers. Merensky won the senior and the visitors the junior competitions.
