Departure and arrival times
Buses are deemed to be late if the vehicle has not arrived 10 minutes after the departure time or estimated time of arrival.
Reopening of Schools
Please note that Monday bus times will always follow the reopening of school after school holidays and long weekends, no matter what day of the week the school reopens.
Parents/guardians will be notified at least 3 days in advance if this arrangement is deviated from.
Exams
The Route Schedule for each examination will be posted as soon as the examination timetable is available.
REGISTRATION
It is important that parents / guardians take note that no learner will be allowed on vehicles if the learner is not registered for the specific route. Registration of learners for the use of Merensky Transport takes place by completing the required online registration form.
2024 Registration
2024 is now open and will close on 30 November 2023.

Requests for registration for the use of Merensky Transport for 2024 must be forwarded to Ms Aletta Steyn at transport@hsmerensky.co.za.
De-registration/ Cancellation
De-registration/ cancellation of Merensky Transport must be done via email at least 14 days before the last intended trip of the learner. Notice of the de-registration/ cancellation must be done via email and addressed to Me Aletta Steyn at transport@hsmeresnky.co.za.
PAYMENTS
Bus fees are payable on the following 2024 dates: 12 January, 7 February, 7 March, 5 April, 6 May, 7 June, 7 August, 6 September, 4 October and 6 November.
Fees are payable via the Karri platform.
Karri is a mobile payment app that allows you to make quick payments for school events.
TO GET STARTED:
- Download the Karri App from your Play Store or App Store on your smartphone.
- Open the app and tap 'Sign Up'.
- Enter your email address (the email address must be same as the one the school communicates to you), select your password and add a few personal details. You will see any outstanding collections on the landing page:
- Pay for your collection by either adding a card or by topping up your wallet.
- To update your card details or top up your wallet, click on your wallet, and select 'My Karri Wallet'.
- You can top up your wallet with your card or by using the instant EFT i-Pay function to make payments. This takes you to your internet banking and allows you to transfer money from your account to your Karri wallet.
OR
You can add your bank card (debit or credit card), by clicking on “Add A Card”
Description: Anything that you will identify it with e.g. Standard Bank debit card, or your name
Card number: As it appears on the front of your card (NOT account number)
Expiry date: Front of your card is an expiry date
CVV: 3-digit number on the back of your card
NEXT
The card is now successfully added.
Once payment was successfully done, the user can now choose to request a receipt for payment:
At the bottom of the App screen, select “Transactions”
Click on the Payment of the event
Payment confirmation screen will appear, now click on the “Email my receipt”
You will now receive an email receipt as proof of payment. Please use the payment confirmation as proof of payment/ bus ticket either as a screenshot on the learner’s phone or a hardcopy.
LEERDERDISSIPLINE
Making use of Merensky High School transport is a privilege. Merensky bus drivers are charged with a great responsibility when transporting learners and/ or staff.
Unnecessary noise and inappropriate behaviour by passengers may distract the driver and jeopardize the safety of everyone in the vehicle as well as other road users.
Appropriate behaviour is expected of learners and staff when using Merensky transport. Failure to follow expected behaviours will result in temporary or permanent suspension of the use of transport for a learner.
Merensky High School Code of Conduct apply at all times. Infractions of school rules will provide cause for the imposition of disciplinary action and/ or suspension of bus services.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
The following are expected behaviours of learners:
- Learners shall always follow the directions of the driver,
- Learners shall wait in an orderly line and avoid pushing in awaiting the drivers instruction to board the bus,
- Learners shall go directly to an available or assigned seat,
- Aisles and exits are to be kept clear at all times (bags must either be kept on the learners lap or placed under the seat),
- Learners will remain seated until instructed by the driver to leave the bus,
- Learners shall exhibit classroom conduct at all times,
- Learners shall refrain from throwing or passing objects in, from, or into buses,
- Learners shall refrain making/ shouting remarks from the bus to pedestrians/ and or other road users,
- Learners shall not use profane language, obscene gestures, tobacco ,alcohol, drugs or any other controlled substance in the bus,
- Learners shall refrain from eating and drinking in the bus,
- Learners shall respect the rights, safety and comfort of others,
- Learners shall refrain from leaving or boarding the bus at locations other than the assigned stops, and
- Learners are expected to talk in a normal occurrence, noise levels should be kept at a reasonable level to avoid distraction of the Driver (Drivers should be able to hear noise exterior to the bus, such as sirens from emergency vehicles. High levels of noise within the bus may deteriorate the driver’s hearing ability and reduce reaction time in an emergency situation).
INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR
The following will be regarded as inappropriate behaviour:
- Not remaining seated at all times,
- Throwing objects out the windows,
- Load music,
- Remarks from inside the bus to pedestrians or other road users,
- Clothing or any body parts hanging out a window.
