On Friday, 27 January, Merensky High Schools’ team of athletes traveled to White River to compete in a friendly meet at Rob Ferreira High School.

Participating schools were Rob Ferreira (A and B teams), Bergvlam, Merensky, Middelburg, Penryn College, Uplands College and Curro Nelspruit. Merensky ended second in this showdown.

The Plasies are proud of Lourencia van Dyk who was crowned the best senior girls athlete of the day.

The u.17 girls managed to set a new record for the 4 x 100m relay event (was 53.52 min, now 52.70 min).

The top 5 Merensky girls of the day were Zenesia Nukeri (shot put), Kesia Pohl (shot put), Lourencia van Dyk (javelin), Lilly Pohl (shot put) and on the top of the list, Salomé Lombard (shot put) with 845 ABSA points.

Reuben Caroto (100m) waved the flag for the Merensky boys with 774 ABSA points, with Noko Malatji (110m hurdles), Piet Maake (110 m hurdles), Dylan Herrendoerfer (200m) and Vutomi Mkhabela (200m) on his heels.
